OVERVIEW

The client is a well established and known brand of Worsted Suiting fabric in India. The company had been facing difficulty in coping with high competition in Worsted market and wanted to explore the growth opportunities across B2B and B2C segments globally.

OBJECTIVE

Assess the current business and the global markets in the B2B (exports) and B2C markets and evaluate alternatives for the client to grow in each of these segments.

WHAT WE DID

  • Assessed global markets for exports and evaluated the success factors for growth in worsted business. Evaluated country scenarios for growth and suggested investment in Ethiopia for suits manufacturing for B2B growth.
  • Assessed current market size, market share and brand image of Client’s brand in India and in countries with India diaspora to evaluate possibilities to enter alternative markets for B2C growth. Suggested most promising countries where Raymond could enter to establish retail business for OTC fabric and readymade suits.

RESULTS

  • The client made the investment in suits manufacturing in Ethiopia based on the recommendation and also entered new markets for B2C retail.

IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF TUFS FOR THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT

OVERVIEW

TUFS (Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme) was launched by the Indian Government to incentivize Indian Textiles industry to invest in state of the art technology. As TUFS has been under implementation for almost two decades now , there was trepidation about the penetration and effectiveness of the scheme and also whether scheme is able to achieve the intended objective or not.

OBJECTIVE

  • Therefore, Indian Government’s Policy making division wanted to do “Impact Assessment of Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme” &  Technopak Advisors was selected to undertake the project.
  • Assess the impact of Technology Upgradation Funds Scheme (TUFS) on investments, employment generation, technology upgradation, and productivity enhancement in the textile sector

WHAT WE DID

  • Primary Research ~ 62 Key Informant Interviews and 667 Unit Holder Surveys PAN India
  • Secondary Research ~ Review of past evaluation reports, and reports released by Government and industry bodies

PROJECT MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT FOR 12 TEXTILE PARKS

OVERVIEW

The Indian Government had launched the scheme of Integrated Textile Parks in 2005 to facilitate textile units to meet international environment and social standards. In the scheme infrastructure and common facilities are customised for textile and apparel sector . It is based on cluster model where the user industry comes together and forms the project Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to set up Textile Parks. Technopak has been Project Management Consultant (PMC) for 14 Textile Parks out of which 2 Textile Parks are completed , 5 Textile Parks are operational, and 7 Textile Parks are at different stages of construction.

OBJECTIVE

  • Identifying the locations for setting up the ITPs based on a scientific assessment of the demand and potential of the area and assist in obtaining all statutory clearances. 
  • Facilitating formation of SPV at each project level with the participation of local industry.

WHAT WE DID

  • Preparation of Project Plan including the setting of standards for infrastructure. Structured the projects and submitted the same for appraisal by project Scrutiny Committee (PSC). 
  • Assisted the SPVs in selection of agencies for preparation of bid documents, construction, operation and maintenance of the facilities in the Project
  • Assisting the SPV in achieving financial closure. 
  • Monitoring the implementation and submit periodical progress reports to the MOT.
  • Liaise with the State Governments to resolve state-related problems. 
  • Ensuring timely completion of project(s) as per DPR

RESULTS

  • 5 Textile Parks are operational with 61 Textile manufacturing units & employment to 2,000 people.
  • 4 more Textile parks units shall be operational within 9-10 months time period with added employment generation.
